Made in The USA – What Matters to You?

I needed an oil change and scheduled for this Monday morning at Walnut Creek Import Service, needless to say, in Walnut Creek at 1343 Pine St. where I have been going for many years to maintain a fully paid for car that I anticipate will last forever.  The owner of the shop is Andy Cummings and he is an excellent and honest mechanic that will properly diagnose and take care of anything that is needed for your car. They are awesome!, their phone number is (925) 939-8761.

The reason for this post is that when I finished there, I drove across the street to America’s Tire to get a tire rotation which I do every 5,000 miles (I learned a hard lesson about not doing this a while ago).

While I was at America’s Tire, I picked up a Car and Driver magazine in the waiting room and started looking at the sexy cars with lots of power, etc., However, I always look at the advertisements in these magazines just to see if I “need” something.

While checking it out, I came upon a four page ad from McNeil Automotive Products – Weather Tech® which was not really talking about their products, but about how they are made, based on their strong philosophy for keeping jobs in America.  I couldn’t help but to read the complete article, nicely written and signed by their Founder and CEO David McNeil.  His article is an example of what we need in this country if we are going to get out “as a nation out of this economic crisis“.  as he so eloquently puts it.  I am proud of the fact that I’m an American by choice and appreciate the individuals like Mr. McNeil that keep the USA strong.  I wish him, his company and his employees much success and the best that anyone could wish for.  And finally, YES, I have purchased their products in the past, many times and their quality reflects the craftmanship that these proud folks strive for.

I’m including a link to the article right here.

Goat cheese? Landscapers? Tree Trimming?

As summer approaches, many people begin looking at their quickly sprouting yards thinking: “wish it didn’t grow so fast.”

Maybe the perfect answer is: GOATS!

Those little weed control experts spend the day working,  clearing weeds and fertilizing at the same time.

Let the goats do it…

A Taste of Lafayette – A little French Bakery!

Secluded behind a shopping area with great restaurants and quaint shops, there is a little piece of heaven under the name “The French Bakery”; it used to be just a bakery and now it has transformed itself into a delightful French Restaurant, open for breakfast and lunch with an absolutely great menu and choices that will make your mouth water.

The founder is Lynn Appleton, a student at Le Cordon Bleu and recently, she partnered with Chris Amsden.

The address is 71 Lafayette Circle in beautiful downtown Lafayette.

Stop by and say hello to  Chris, tell him that Rafael sent you and if you are not in the mood for breakfast or lunch, try one of their wonderful pastries.

Bon Appetit!
